Preseason Party

Another highly successful preseason party was held at Leek Wootton Sports & Social Club on Sunday 15th April with a good representation of old and new members present. This gave everyone to check out the facilities (most notably of course, the bar), and raise some funds for the coffers.

Despite the many other attractions on offer, a number of players were caught surreptitiously wandering around out on the square, checking what the "green stuff" in the middle was and whether it would play better before or after tea and how much it would turn/bounce/etc. Fortunately for relations with our new hosts, I don't think anyone starting poking car keys into it(!)

Hopefully, Mushie had his digital camera with him and will be able to supply pictures at a future date...

Quiz Night

Thanks to Martyn Lilley who acted as Quiz Master this year and ensured another successful quiz - if slightly rowdier than usual due to Les Rosbifs knocking Les Bleus out of the Rugby World Cup

Annual Dinner

In a break with tradition this year, the Annual Dinner was held at the Granville @ Barford, and was great news for those of us in staggering distance! A good number of the usual suspects were present and enjoyed an excellent evening at Barford's poshest venue (excepting the Lusby's drawing room). The atmosphere and food were great, and the retiring Skipper was on good form - although either age seems to be mellowing him slightly or he's a bit worried about offending his teammates now he's returned to the ranks.

There was the customary level of controversy surrounding the doling out of trophies with Captains prizes awarded as follows:

Numerous paparazzi were in attendance but only gate-crasher Celeste Lees has supplied your humble editor with anything of note. There's a gallery of pictures from the event here and a video of Sandy's after-dinner speech here.
