Thanks to Dave Smith and his colleagues from Complete Cricket Coaching who ran some excellent training sessions at the indoor facilities at Warwick University, where the nets seemed even slower and lower than the usual ones at Aylesford. Everyone that attended seemed to take something useful from the sessions, which was a great acheivement when you're as cynical and world-weary as we are! We have yet to translate the lessons learned in the nets into achievements on the pitch, but I'm sure we'll play better as a team for the experience.

As (perhaps) expected, the season's certainly off to another flyer with defeats against foes old and new, although the most recent against Old Westheathians sounds a bit a narrower than the one against Lemmings who always seemed to have a bit left in reserve.

At least the batsmen seem to making a few runs already, present company excluded. Your correspondent was rather dismayed that the promise of the pre-season coaching manifested it in him kicking a leg-side wide back on his stumps - note to self, don't do that again...
