Well swipe me sideways - Easter's been and gone already and we're still some weeks off from donning whites in anger. The nets have been generally well attended, enlived by the keen promptings of new skipper Chris O'Reilly, and I'm happy to report that no major injuries have been sustained. Except of course your correspondent, who endured a comedic swelling of the shin as a consequence of some bludgeoning strokeplay from Tim Jolly and the frantic sidesteps of the spinning fishwives (you know who you are), who seem to think fielding at nets is an optional activity (along with bowling).

Mike's notable fasting efforts have resulted in not only the ability to procude a few overs of gentle medium pace at the nets (and an obsession with the reverse sweep), but a substantial donation of £600 to his kidney charities, which he is sure to make use of in the coming months. While he waits for the machinations of the NHS to complete their machinating, I'm expecting some notable performances from Mike as he's relieved from the shackles of captaincy and given licence to "go out and express himself" (oh and put yourself down for some tea-making in May)

Still no statistics, I'm afraid, although the pressure is mounting on Statto Johnson from a number of different directions - notably Peter Romyn who is finding his preparations for this year's captaincy stint hamstrung by the lack of empirical evidence regarding his team for the Saturday's tour match.

You should have received a newsletter from our ever-efficent secretary Simon "boom-boom" Hawkins detailing the latest gossip and forthcoming events - if not, you know who moan at!

Club subscriptions will again stay the same as last year - can you please pay them asap (preferably before or at the pres-season party - of course you're going to be there!)
